I've
just added 4 new sets of photos to the live photo section.
The pix are from the Lund (Sweden), Poznan (Poland), Dresden (Germany) and Berlin
(Germany) concerts.
During the November tour múm had a little help from
some other kids. Here is some info about them:
Ásthildur Valtýsdóttir:
Singer and Gyða and Kristíns' older sister. Serena Tideman: Lovely cello player
from the USA. Eiríkur Orri: Trumpet. Eiríkur played the trumpet on
both múm albums.

Friends
of múm
If you live in Paris you will have the chance to see Jóhann
Jóhannsson (one of the founding members of Kitchenmotors)
performing is most recent musical creation, "IBM 1401" at the Menagerie de Verre
on the 12th and 13th of December. The piece is a collaboration with dancer/choreographer
Erna Ómarsdóttir. More info here.
Jóhann
is also a member of the Apparat
Organ Quartet along with some other musicians that have worked with múm in
the past. The band has just released their self-titled album on Thule Musik and
will embark on a European Tour next year. The Apparats will perform at the Eurosonic
Festival in Groeningen on January the 10th 2003. More dates will follow. The
Apparat album is available at Badtaste.

Potemkin docks in Gijón
múm will once again provide the soundtrack
to Sergei Eisenstein's classic film "Battleship Potemkin". The performance will
take place at the Gijón
International Film Festival (Spain) on November 26th.

06/11/02 "Seasonal
Greetings" will hit the stores in two weeks time. múm's track, "Nóttin
Var Svo Ágæt Ein", is a version of a song originally written by Sigvaldi Kaldalón
using a traditional lyric. The song was recorded by múm in 1999 and included in
a limited edition (100 copies) Christmas CD that VPRO (Dutch Radio Station) sent
to friends and business partners that same year. [thanks to heiko at mobilé records

Fresh news from the múm world:
Mobilé records is about to release
a x-mas compilation titled "Seasonal Greetings". múm's contribution is a new song
called "Nóttin Var Svo Ágæt Ein". Other artists included in the compilation
are, Opiate, Erlend Oye, Domotic, and Badly Drawn Boy. [thanks to pedro at ananana
for the info]
The band has been composing the music that will accompany
RUV's (Icelandic National Broadcasting
Service) theatrical adaptation for radio of "Svefnhjólið" (Sleeping Wheel) a novel
by Gyrðir
Eliasson. The play will be broadcasted this winter.
múm have also finished
recording the session for BBC's Radio 1 show The
Blue Room. The set will consist of "jams, awkwardness and little lost things".

I've just added the final dates of the November tour.
Tomorrow
(20 October) CNN International will re-run a special edition of their show Music
Room dedicated to Iceland's fertile music scene. The show includes features
on, múm, Björk, Quarashi, Sigur-Rós among others.

live section has also been updated with a series of new
dates concerning the upcoming European tour. Most of it still needs to be confirmed
and changes may occur. Keep checking the site for updates and information.

The next two múm concerts will be very special, since this is the
last time Gyða is playing with the other kids. The band will perform in Barcelona
(September 21) and in London (September 23). Gyda will also participate in the
recording of a Peel
Session (BBC Radio 1) to be broadcasted on October the 3rd.

I've just added some photos taken at the Reykjavik concert. While
in Iceland múm also did a special improvised session at the record store 12
Tónar. Samuli Kosminen and Adam Pierce helped the band in both occasions.
You can see all the pictures here.
múm have also
been busy working on new music. This time they produced one track for Japanese
singer Aco.
The song will be included on Aco's next album to be released in 2003.

18/08/02 múm
have just finished the US/Canada/Japan leg of the "Finally we are no one" Tour.
The band will now return home and after a deserved period of rest they will do
another series of concerts in Europe. More dates and venues will be announced
soon.

13/08/02 New
pics, taken at the Hollywood and San Francisco concerts, added to the live
photo section. You can also download the mp3 of some kids from múm
performance at the ICA in London here. Most of the ICA set
is made of experimental tracks but the kids still had time to play a beautiful
rendition of "now there's that fear again".

Australian street magazine "3D World" published recently an interview
with Gyða. On this article she explains the reason why she will leave the band
when the "Finally we are no one" tour finishes. múm will become a trio and Gyða
will finish her studies at the "The Academy of the Arts" in Iceland. Click here

The BBC
3 Mixing it session includes performances by, some kids from múm (some
new songs/experiments, and a rendition of "now there's that fear again"), Slowblow
and Iceland's latest musical extravaganza Apparat
Organ Quartet.

14/07/02 Two new dates added to the live
section along with some new photos taken at the
Quart Festival in Norway. 
10/07/02 The rehearsals for
the US/Canada tour are underway in New York, and this time most of the live drumming
will be done by Adam Pierce
from Mice
Parade. During their US stay the band will also record a live session for
BBC's Radio 1 show Blue
Room. múm have recorded a cover version of a Slowdive
song called "Machine Gun" taken from Slowdive's album "Souvlaki".
The song will be included in the double CD compilation "Blue Skied An' Clear"
(entirely dedicated to Slowdive songs) set to be released by Morr
Music this autumn. Check some new photos taken at the Roskilde Festival
in the Photos section (live and press). 
03/07/02 The Kitchenmotors
@ ICA performances will take
place next weekend in London. Kristín, Gunni and Örvar will perform a special
"...short, kind of improvised, experimental, more than electronic than not, finallywearenoone
free set..." on Sunday. Kristín will also be playing a couple of songs with Slowblow
and Emiliana Torrini that same day. Check the full program for Saturday
and Sunday.
The Batlleship
Potemkin US performance location as been disclosed. The event will take
place at the Lyceum
in Brooklyn.

29/06/02 The Ferrara (Italy)
performance is set to become one of the most special concerts from the European
leg of the "Finally we are no one" tour. Bad weather forced the band and promoter
to improvise a stage under the arches of the Ferrara Castle and a magical setting
was created. The band performed 3 songs acoustically before starting the usual
tour line-up. See some live photos taken

16/06/02 Live photos from the Frankfurt, Cologne and Copenhagen

14/06/02 New US/Canada
live dates added to the live section. Along with the "Finally
we are no one" concerts múm will do a special show in Brooklyn on July the 25th.
The band will provide the score to a silent film, most likely Sergei Eisenstein's
classic Battleship
Potemkin. The location will be announced soon.

06/06/02 The first U.S./Canada tour dates have finally arrived,
you can find them in the live section here on múmweb. The
live photos section has also been updated with pics from
the Sheffield concert and you can see a report and photos from the London show

31/05/02 múm have just
finished the UK/Ireland leg of the "Finally we are no one" tour. Check the photos
section for some pictures from the Bristol (UK) concert and photos and a video
from the Fríkirkjan (Reykjavik) performance. Also check Badtaste
for an interview the band gave mbl.is, and an interview at www.totallyradio.com
on Claire Kember's daily show. On this site, www.mcd.ie,
you will find photos from the concert at Spirit in Dublin. 
28/05/02 Kitchenmotors
is about to start a series of new activities. The first ever solo work
to be released on Kitchenmotors comes from Kippi
Kaninus. Kippi's album "Huggun", a mixture of "…organic electronics, nano
beats and hidden melodies", will be out in June. To promote the release Kippi
will support múm on some of the U.S. tour dates. múm will also be part
of the "New music for silent films" CD series to be released this fall. These
events were curated by Orri of Slowblow for the Icelandic Film Museum in 2001
/ 2002. múm's participation, to be included in one of the CD's, is the score they
created for Sergei Eisenstein's classic film Battleship
Potemkin. Other works to be included on the 2 CDs were composed by, Jóhann
Jóhannson, Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson, Skúli Sverisson & Hilmar Jensson. On
the live front Kitchenmotors will travel to Spain, Italy and England :
June 14th - Kitchenmotors will be at the Sónar
Festival in Barcelona (Spain). June 1st et 2nd - Some artists from
the Kitchenfamily (Músikvatur, Sigtryggur Berg, Auxpan, Kira Kira, among others)
will play in Florence (Italy) at the "Vie di Fuga" Festival .
July 5th - Kitchenmotors will collaborate once again with some of the FatCat
records artists. This time it is Kitchenmotors turn to visit Brighton (England).
July 6th et 7th - Kitchenmotors will be at the ICA
in London (England) doing a two day Festival promoted by BBC
3's Mixing it. Some kids from múm will perform on July the 7th.

he grabbed my thumb and led me away from the accident. there was
no point in watching any more, still i was reluctant to move. "we have to
go find the others" he said. he never looked straight at me. we walked in
the grass, around the shack and down to the stream. for some reason, i had never
walked down there before. we went into a concrete tunnel, dark but warm, a part
of a noise was leaking from the ceiling. now there was that musik again. he sat
down and heard me do the same. "finally

16/05/02 Badtaste
announced the release of an Icelandic version (all vocals are in Icelandic) of
"Finally we are no one". "Loksins erum vid engin" will only be available on CD
and the number of copies is limited. The special version of the album is released
May the 27th in Iceland. FatCat will release the english version of the album
on CD and Double 10" on May the 20th. Pre-order "Loksins erum vid engin" at Badtaste.

all is bad news for Icelandic fans after all. múm will take part of a memorial
in honour of the victims of war and fascism next Saturday (18th May)
at the Fríkirkjan in Reykajvik (by the Tjörnin). The memorial begins
at 21:00. The program consists of the Choir Graduale Nobili, múm, and
the Áróra kvartettin that will play Schostakovitch's String Quartet no.8.

13/05/02 The special concert
in Hafnafjördur at the Bæjarbíó
has been cancelled due to some problems concerning
release schedules. This means the first concert of the Tour will take place in
Bristol on May the 23th. 
11/05/02
múm are currently in Iceland rehearsing for the "Finally we are no
one" promotional tour and scheduled a special concert in Hafnafjördur at the Bæjarbíó
on May the 16th. Most of the European dates of this tour will have Samuli
Kosminen behind the drums.

uni:form has just released the compilation "42
more things to do in zero gravity / part one". The double CD set includes
one track by múm, "Smell Memory (Traktor/Trabant mix)", and a brand new mix done
by the band for fellow Icelanders Kanada,
