mice and fat cat tales
Our fatcat friends have just sent in some news. múm are currently mastering their
new album at "The Exchange" in London. The album should be released
next April and will be preceded by a two-track single. A four-track ep
will follow later in the year, and the band will be touring throughout
Europe and the USA between April and July. The kids worked once again
with Samuli Kosminen (drums)and Eiríkur
(trumpet).
Before all that Kristín will help Adam Pierce and his mice
parade in their USA tour.
The new mice parade album, "Obrigado, Saudade" will be released in January
2004 and Kristín's lovely voice can be heard on 2 of the tracks.

"quite a while ago, metaphrog

one special day some rare vinyl by hey from berlin drifted to their music loving shores. they sent heart breaking
comic books in return. hey and metaphrog got to know each other a little.
after a while they found it was time to share a story, drawings and music
and searched for somebody special to join. they were looking for a long
time. then, finally, múm from Iceland were on the right spot just before
heading off to an amazing round camping trip. friends were made, parcels
were sent overseas. dreams never die."
release date : march 2004
format: 28 pages full colour comic, with blue coloured vinyl 7''/cd stuck
in the inside. 2 tracks. original by hey et múm remix.

a bundle of small talk and some snapshots
As you all know, múm's summer tour is over and the kids are
now recording their new album in Iceland. Anyway, there are some curious
details about the last tour that must be mentioned, especially the fact
that both blackouts in New York and Rome happened when múm were in those
same towns. Is there a connection? Silvio and George's people are investigating
those matters and will, for sure, keep us informed about any new facts.
While in the darkness, the kids played some music on rooftops.
In Tokyo the band made a tribute to music legend Johnny
Cash. Kristín and Ólof played a cover version of Johnny Cash's rendition
of Paul Williams's song "That Lucky Old Sun".
New photos from the gigs in Melbourne, Benicàssim, and Thailand
(!) have been added to the live photos section.

home baked sounds
You may have heard about Sigridur Nielsdottir before. Sigridur
is 73 years old, of Danish and German parentage but has lived in Iceland
since 1949. She lives in central Reykjavik where she makes all her music
in her kitchen, using a keyboard, recording straight into a United cassette
recorder. Sigridur started to do music 2 years ago and has already released
27 albums. Among her fans are the múm kids that have included her
songs in some of their dj sets and Björk.
Badtaste is
now selling all of her recordings. Check the Bad News at Badtaste
to learn more about Iceland's cult granny and download some mp3's.
Kitchenmotors Kira Kira, Orri from Slowblow, and Óbó and Hildur from Rúnk have formed
a band called "Stórsveit Sigrídar Níels" that only plays Sigridur songs.
The lady herself doesn't do any live performances due to her shyness.
A documentary about Sigridur is also on the making.

múm for all ages
The new USA live dates have arrived, check the live section and see if múm will play in a town near you.
múm are sorry about the 18 + policy in some of the USA shows, which prevent
fans under that age from going to their shows. Apparently it has been
difficult to find all age venues over there. In case you have any suggestion
regarding suitable venues for a future US tour, use the forum
to do so.
The kids are currently rehearsing for the upcoming summer tour. Samuli
(drums), Eiríkur (trumpet and other bits), and Ólöf (just bits and things) will join, Örvar,
Gunni and Kristín on stage.
More dates will be announced soon. Keep checking múm:web.
