the
last thin rumour of a feeble bell far ringing
fat-cat published kristín anna’s statement concerning her
departure from the band. after many rumours the official news have arrived,
kristín is no longer a part of múm. she will obviously continue
to create music. some of her recent endeavours include her solo project
under the name kría brekkan, work with eiríkur orri for
a modern dance piece and her collaboration on icelandic band stórsveit
nix noltes second album.
the new múm line up includes two new singers, namely, mr.silla
and hildur gudnadóttir. mr.silla is also involved in a project
with mongoose and working on her solo songs. hildur has recently released
her first solo album "mount A" on 12 tónar under the
name “lost in hildurness”. both were part of múm’s
live line-up at the sugarcubes anniversary concert, along with old time
collaborators, eiríkur orri, olöf arnalds and samuli kosminen.

we
all crave for a hot-dog splashed with noise
some fresh news just in. múm will be the opening act of the sugarcubes
20th anniversary concert that will take place on the 17th of november
in reykjavik. last time múm played as band in iceland was at the
krútt-festival in snæfellsnes in august 2005.
according to the press release "all profit from the concert, with
the support of fl group, goes back into smekkleysa
sm who will continue to work on a non-profit basis for the future
betterment of icelandic music and artists."

- a statement by múm
The icelandic government has decided to start hunting whales again.
This decision is in no way made for economic reasons, but is purely a
nationalistic and deeply conservative political decision.
The resumption of whale hunting profoundly saddens us. It is ugly and
pointless.
Since Icelandic musicians are often treated as some sort of ambassadors
of Iceland and are expected to promote the country to foreigners, we feel
we need to make a statement about the matter.
We can not go so far as asking people to boycott Icelandic goods or canceling
their trips to Iceland, but of course any means of pressuring our government
is worth considering.

fatcat has just announced the release of múm’s peel session recorded at the maida vale 4 studio in september 2002. the release includes 4 songs and will be packaged in handmade artwork. due out in december.
has reported previously the band is working on a new album, with a release
date set for spring 2007. the boys are also busy from time to time djing
around the world and most certainly will keep scratching songs and sounds
in the near future.

we're going round and round
goldfrapp will
release a new múm remix next month(may 1st). after remixing "number
1" the kids tweaked and bleeped the song "you
never know", which will be released as a b-side on goldfrapp's
next single "fly me away".
if anyone out there has setlists from múm concerts please send
them to monsieur simon.
he is currently trying to create a list of all múm concerts setlists.
it may be a daunting task, still he is trying and needs your help. he
thanks in advance. ;)

múm's neue ecke
the band have just created a myspace account. it will be updated with
new photos, rare music, and fresh info on a regular basis. randomsummer.com
will also be redesigned soon. the band is currently working on their forthcoming
album.

can catch them in the club doin their thang.
the múm-boys will take part in the fatcat mini-festival at the kunstencentrum belgie in hasselt, belgium.
on february the 10th (friday) the boys will perform a dj set, and on
february the 11th (saturday) they will join finish band kemialliset
ystävät for a short improvisation.
right after the boys will travel to berlin and join some fellow icelander
musicians and bands that will play at the “senjorinn: die islandische
klukscheisse” event.
the line up includes borko,
hudson wayne,
skakkamanage,
and seabear. the
concerts will take place at the neue
berline initiative on february the 14th, and at the zentrale
randlage on february the 18th.
