"The Ballad of the Broken Birdie Records"

"Once upon a time…"

People that find fairytales shallow and unpleasant are betraying their childhood and are themselves unpleasant and shallow. Those people don't deserve such a wonderful record as múm's, "The Ballad…". This 12" is the perfect soundtrack for a trip to an enchanted forest.

"And they lived happily ever after…"

"Yesterday was Dramatic - Today is Ok"

The Icelandic Thule Empire expands once more. After the first three releases from 66 Degrees, Thule's House sub-label, the new imprint, TMT Entertainment, releases new music in the electronic area. Their first signing, múm, indicate a true teenage-pop-sensation. The band members age varies from 17 to 19 years old, but Örvar, Gunnar, Anna and Gyda's musical efforts are very mature for a band with such young members. The beats and melodies on their debut album are as good as some of the records done by "Big Stars" in the electronic area. With song titles such as, "I'm 9 today", Smell Memories" or "Slow Bicycle", one tries to catalogue this album as cute. To do that is simply a mistake. These songs are about reality and not about cuteness. "Yesterday was dramatic…" can be compared to the perplexity that a baby must feel when he watches the shadow created by his own hand, and thinks of it as the most wonderful thing in the entire world. This album deals with lightness, and also with sensibility towards the small things in life. Múm trigger memories that cradle you. Björk wants the band to play on her next tour and Mike Paradinas asked the band to remix one of his tracks after listening to múm's music on one of his trips to Iceland. Soon múm will also be inside your heart!
